This article outlines DFID-funded research being carried out in Northern Viet Nam in 2001. The impact of flooding on lagoon aquaculture and on the livelihood activities of people living around the lagoon were being investigated. Another line of research concerned identification of the pathogen causing large mortality in Pangasius stocks and possible risk factors and impact of the disease.
