This Volume II report is a compilation of country-specific technical reports from the study on warehouse receipt financing and collateral management systems for smallholder farmers in Africa focusing on 9 selected countries; Uganda, Cameroon, Niger, Mozambique, Senegal, Ghana, Cote D’Ivoire, Madagascar, and Burkina Faso.
Using desk review and field survey, the study identifies four main types of warehouse financing systems across Africa, which are; 1) the community inventory credit, 2) private warehouses, 3) public warehouses and 4) security on current or future production. Each country report presents the legal and institutional background for warehouse receipting, the systems that have been experimented so far, the opportunities and constraints, and the recommendations for improvement.
