This presentation was made at the Meeting on Aflatoxin Control for Improving Health, Agriculture and Trade in Africa, held in Washington D.C. on January 26, 2011.

The workshop was co-chaired by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the World Bank. It provided an opportunity for stakeholders and experts to discuss the latest research on the prevalence of aflatoxins and their considerable impact on broader development efforts. A discussion also took place on the current challenges to aflatoxin control and available solutions, including a promising aflatoxin management technology developed by USDA and by the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA), for Africa.
