This project was conducted in Malawi to obtain baseline data on the main pests and diseases for the development of an IPM programme for coffee smallholders. It was concluded that there is an urgent need for control measures against white stem borer and that there are insecticides available that may be effective. Much can be done to manage diseases through implementation of an ICM programme, and this forms the basis of a proposal for a second phase of the project.
