This project is part of the “Support to the Development of the Agricultural Insurance Market in Central America”, whose objective is the development of the agricultural sector through the efficient financial management of production risks. One of the major constraints for the development of agricultural financial management is the lack of meteorological information usually associated with:
–Limited coverage of stations
–Missing data in the historical records
–Short historical record (e.g. recently installed stations).
This project is an overview feasibility analysis utilizing meteorological data and gridded datasets in Central America to determine ways to manage production risks that arise due to weather.
