At COP16 of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, governments agreed that multilateral development banks will be central to increasing biodiversity finance to $200 billion by 2030, in line with the goals of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. But what are MDBs doing now, and how far are they from what’s needed to realize these goals and safeguard nature for future generations?
New analysis by World Resources Institute and NatureFinance offers a framework for assessing how MDBs are mainstreaming nature across their operations. In this webinar, we will present a brief synopsis of this paper, the analytical tools that power it, and hear from a panel of stakeholders and experts from MDBs, client countries, and civil society, concluding with an audience Q&A. The result will be a provocative discussion of MDBs’ role in halting and reversing biodiversity loss by 2030, and sustaining a healthy planet for all people by 2050.
