In response to the pressing need for innovative solutions to address food insecurity, IFAD, FAO and the Islamic Development Bank will launch a report on “Mapping of affordable and transferrable climate smart technologies for smallholder farmers”.

The mapping focuses on six areas critical to improving food security:

  1. postharvest, reducing food loss and waste
  2. water management and water saving technologies
  3. sustainable pest control and crop management
  4. e-commerce and market access
  5. fintech
  6. green energy for farmers agribusiness operations

The focus was on affordable, reliable and easy-to-use green technologies that could improve food security among smallholder farmers in ten selected countries. Ten technology directories were created that include detailed information for 349 technologies, of which 120 were deemed highly viable following a screening and evaluation.

This event will present the mapping study, while experts and stakeholders from the targeted countries will feedback on the technologies highlighted in the report.
