AGRA is excited to share news of a major milestone in African agriculture – the launch of the Africa Digital Crop Variety Catalogue, the continent’s first multi-country interactive digital crop variety catalog. This new platform is designed to bridge critical information gaps in the seed sector, improving access to up-to-date data on approved crop varieties for farmers, policymakers, and sector players alike for Ethiopia, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda.
Since 2006, our commitment to strengthening Africa’s seed systems has helped grow the number of viable African-owned seed companies from a handful to over 100, expanding inclusive access to high-yielding, climate-smart, and nutrient-dense quality seed. The launch of this catalog marks the beginning of a new chapter in that journey.
