This third edition of AKADEMIYA2063’s Kampala CAADP Series webinar seeks to explore the intersection of three critical areas: building and measuring resilient agrifood systems, enhancing preparedness and responsiveness to food crises, and leveraging bioeconomy as a pathway for resilience. These themes align with the commitments outlined in the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) Kampala Declaration, which emphasizes strengthened implementation of resilience-building strategies, improved data systems, and the sustainable use of biological resources to support food security and economic transformation.
Specifically, the webinar will:
• Examine innovative approaches and tools for building and measuring resilience in Africa’s agrifood systems, including metrics, monitoring frameworks, and early warning systems.
• Share best practices and country experiences in enhancing preparedness and responsiveness to food crises, including anticipatory action, shock-responsive social protection, and institutional coordination.
• Explore the bioeconomy as a resilience-enhancing strategy that promotes sustainable resource use, job creation, and value addition, particularly in rural areas.
• Highlight the opportunities and commitments presented by the CAADP Kampala Declaration for driving integrated action across these three thematic areas.
The webinar will feature expert presentations, high-level panel discussions, and an interactive Q&A session. Participants will include policymakers, researchers, practitioners, development partners, private sector actors, and representatives from farmer organizations and civil society.
