The transformation of agrifood systems is accelerating at an unprecedented pace, driven by the convergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital innovations, and Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI). Over the past two decades, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), as the facilitator of WSIS Action Line C7 on e-Agriculture, has championed a human-centered and inclusive approach to digital transformation empowering smallholder farmers, women, youth, and marginalized communities worldwide. This commitment reflects the WSIS vision of leveraging ICTs for sustainable development and aligns with the WSIS+20 Review Process and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable
Development. This WSIS+20 side event will provide a platform to reflect on achievements, address remaining challenges, and shape a bold, inclusive vision for the future of digital agriculture. It will present the FAO Digital Agriculture and AI Roadmap as a blueprint for scaling innovation and fostering multi-stakeholder partnerships, ensuring that digital transformation in agriculture contributes to the WSIS Action Lines, the Global Digital Compact, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The discussion will emphasize how digital agriculture can serve as a cornerstone for inclusive growth, climate resilience, and food systems transformation, advancing a forward-looking agenda for the next decade.
