The Syngenta Foundation is currently investigating the design of risk management products tailored to smallholder needs as well as the best possible delivery systems. The mission of the Syngenta Foundation is to create value for resource-poor small farmers in developing countries through innovation in sustainable agriculture and the activation of value chains. The Foundation pursues its mission in three closely-linked activity areas: Knowledge, Tools and Opportunities in Kenya, Mali, India, Brazil, Bangladesh, East Africa, West Africa, Central America, Ethiopia, and the Africa and Asia regions generally. Syngenta also invests in agricultural science and technology for sustainable productivity gains, improvements of the natural resource base, credit and risk management tools, and better food quality and standards. Agricultural extension and rural services are scaled up to enable adoption of effective inputs and practices. Syngenta works to catalyze value chains in domestic and foreign markets, productively and gainfully associating smallholders. We also build public-private partnerships in seed and other input systems, certification, contract farming, agro-environmental services, product processing and transformation, marketing and retailing.
