Opportunity International provides small business loans, savings, insurance and training to people working their way out of poverty in the developing world – many of whom are involved in the agricultural sector. By providing these loans, savings, and insurance, Opportunity International provides much needed access to finance for agricultural producers in developing countries. Clients in over 20 countries use these financial services to start or expand a business, provide for their families, create jobs for their neighbors and build a safety net for the future.
Opportunity International provides the critical financial tools and training farmers need to sustainably reduce hunger and food insecurity. It has loaned more than $49 million to empower rural farmers in Africa to better feed their families, improve their quality of life and positively impact their communities. By focusing on long-term solutions, its Agriculture Finance program is maximizing the potential of farmers to boost their harvests and improve cash flows.
