LEGS is an independent initiative that aims to improve the quality and livelihoods impact of livestock-related projects in humanitarian situations. Established in 2005, LEGS is managed by a Board of Trustees supported by an Advisory Committee, which together coordinate and oversee the production and uptake of LEGS. The Advisory Committee is made up of individuals from the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Overseas Development Institute, Sphere India, Tufts University and independent consultants, including a member of the LEGS Training of Trainers Training Team. Funding for the LEGS Project comes from a range of donors and through in-kind contributions, but with all donor support provided on the condition that LEGS remains independent.
