The Impact Insurance Facility, which is part of the International Labour Organization (ILO), aims to enable the insurance industry, governments, and their partners to realise the potential of insurance by building quality risk-management solutions at greater scale. The Facility achieves this mission through a three-pronged strategy of stimulating innovationunlocking capacity, and accelerating the development of inclusive insurance markets in selected countries. Its work is guided by three principles: 1) solutions are consumer-centric; 2) they are driven by both evidence and experience-based learning; 3) collaboration among various stakeholders is necessary to deliver results.

The Impact Insurance Facility is a rebranded successor of the Microinsurance Innovation Facility, which was established in 2008 to support the extension of insurance to millions of low-income people in the developing world, with the overall aim of reducing their vulnerability to risk.
