The Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI) has launched its Food Value Chain Criteria under the Climate Bonds Standard and Certification Scheme, marking a pivotal expansion of climate-focused finance into an often overlooked yet emissions-intensive part of the global food system. These criteria are the result of a technical working group convened by CBI in July 2024.

We discuss the topic with Ms. Aishwarya Sankar, Senior Analyst at CBI, and Ms. Francesca Nugnes, Capacity Development and Private Sector Specialist at PARM. As the lead and key contributor to the technical working group, respectively, they share impactful insights on how this initiative could transform food value chains and drive sustainable development. They are interviewed by Anaïs Petitjean, FARM-D Community of Practice Analyst.
