Silver barb seed production in Southern Lao PDR

Abstract

This manual is designed to aid hatcheries to produce large numbers of good quality silver barb seed using current resources. It is an output of a workshop held in Pakbor hatchery in which practical techniques were tried out, and knowledge pooled to develop a guide to best practice under local conditions. The manual covers all the major steps in hatchery production – broodstock conditioning and selection, spawning and hatching, early and post-nursing and a hatchery monitoring system.
