The Platform for Agricultural Risk Management (PARM) and the African Union Development Agency of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (AUDA-NEPAD) are co-organising the side-event “Accelerating Investments for Inclusive and Holistic Agricultural Risk Management in Africa” on the sidelines of the commemoration of the 15th Africa Day for Food and Nutrition Security (ADFNS), the 20th edition of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) Partnership Platform (PP) and the associated Malabo Policy Learning Event (MAPLE).
The hybrid side event will take place on 30 October 2024 at 16:00 (EAT) at Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare, Zimbabwe. The side-event will showcase the results achieved in contributing to food security and promote agriculture development in Africa. The panel will feature leading experts from PARM, AUDA-NEPAD and COMESA reflecting on how to accelerate investments in agriculture through agricultural risk management. The event will also enable experience sharing to inspire other partners and farmers’ organizations on innovative agricultural practices and risk management tools to de-risk investments in agriculture. Furthermore, the session will build on success stories of African smallholder farmers which have been documented by African storytellers and media professionals through the PARM Stories Challenge to portray rural farmers’ self-resilience to agricultural risks and showcase how this could be strengthened in order to increase their productivity and contribute to sustainable agri-food systems.
