From online to in-person engagement! Today at FAO Headquarters during the #WorldFoodForum, PARM and FARM-D created a dynamic space for young people to engage in dialogue on the power of digital innovations and technologies to build more sustainable and resilient #agrifood systems. We had amazing and inspiring discussions during our side event with a panel of experts from IFAD , Enderase Youth Association, Policy Action Initiative, Agriculturable, and the APECA association, exploring how digital tools can help farmers overcome barriers to technology adoption. Key takeaways: Access to relevant and reliable data is essential to support young farmers in making informed decisions and planning for improved productivity and market access. This requires facilitating their access to: (i) digital infrastructure; (ii) digital training; (iii) electricity; and (iv) digital content in local languages. Young people play a catalytic role as innovators and solution-creators who are reimagining the future of food production. They are uniquely positioned to lead this much-needed transformation by enhancing access to digital innovations and technologies to advance our #agrifood systems. Youth. To effectively include youth and facilitate access to technologies, they should not only be involved in discussions and forums, but also actively engaged in policy and decision-making processes. This is key to creating an enabling environment for sustainable digital transformation. Huge thanks to our brilliant speakers Brenda Gunde, Mahoussi Assocle, Biruk Aschalew, Brian Kithinji, Baron Nkoy , Wagua AKARA and KAKULE SAWASAWA for sharing their knowledge and insights and representing the Forum during the side event.
