#Pigfarming offers several advantages for rural development and the resilience of producers. These include the production of meat rich in protein and vitamins for human consumption, and its contribution as a raw material in the processing of sausages and hams (charcuterie) thanks to curing and smoking techniques. Pig skin, hair, and fat are used in various industries (gelatin, brushes, etc.). As for waste, pigs can be fed agricultural by-products (whey, soybean meal, etc.), thus contributing to waste recycling. Pig manure is a source of nutrient-rich organic fertilizer for soil fertilization. Pig farming is flexible for farmers and can be practiced in extensive (free-range) or intensive systems, depending on production objectives and environmental constraints. Pig farming can be a driver of economic development in hashtag#ruralareas, the development of hashtag#foodsystems, creating jobs, generating income, and benefiting the hashtag#environment by fertilizing the land.
