A delegation of UN Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) Last Mile Finance Trust Fund Advisory Board visit to the Investment and Development Bank for Women of Burundi. It was a great moment of exchange between the members of the delegation with the management committee of the Bank but also to visit the Beneficiaries of the partnership in a cooperative of 50 rural women called TUVE MUBUKENE TWITEZE IMBERE (LET’S LEAVE TO DEVELOP OURSELVES) practicing broiler chicken farming located in the Mutoyi center in Gitega province. The objective of the visit was to assess the situation of the achievements, the impact of financing rural women but also the challenges to further find sustainable solutions. This cooperative began its activities towards the end of 2023 with 100 chicks with a credit of 9 million from the Bank and in one year, it has already generated a dividend of 20 thousand Burundian Francs and a piglet for each member. She has established a stable of 3 cows and her chicken coop for the 3rd cycle has 400 chicks. Given the progress of the cooperative and its members, it is encouraging to support the development initiatives of producers at the grassroots level.
